THe CIFA presents: Fashion Arts workshop
Program Overview
Learn to design and sew your own garment from scratch and showcase it in an online fashion show, in a 4-week program (3 hours per week)
Live online for 4 weeks in July teaching in small groups on zoom.
$240 per person for 3 hours per week, tools and supplies

Wednesdays 7-8pm EDT Open Lab AND

Saturdays 11am-1pm EDT OR Sundays 12pm-2pm EDT for Zoom Class
What this is:
An online sewing/design class for kids ages 8-12.
We will work together for four weeks (4 x 2 hour sessions per week, 4 students max per teacher) as well as 1 x hour per week for an open lab for asking questions, getting extra help and co-working.
This is an introduction to a skill that will last a lifetime and opportunity to work with your hands and learn something new!

Online Learning Platform will be through our own Zoom link that we will send you.
What you are responsible for:
Adults: you will need to be available to support your child during this course. This means you will need to do the following:

provide fabric scissors and a clean, well-lit place to spread out the fabric

be available to assist in cutting fabric, threading the needle and possibly, doing some sewing

send us photos of unboxing the materials, working on the project, and the final garment
-
send us your child's final modeling video by the deadline (between Week 3 and 4), should your child wish to be included in the final 'fashion show'
Children: come to the session rested and fed. Sewing is a skill that anyone can learn, we ask that you be patient with yourself and persistent! Don't hesistate to ask us for help and share your questions with us.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
WEEK 1: Unboxing, Sewing 101, Choose your pattern and sketch.
WEEK 2: Fabrics and Pattern Cutting, Designing and Sewing.
WEEK 3: Sewing pockets, ruffles, Trouble shooting, Finish your garment. Model it for the camera. Parents: send us your video.
WEEK 4: Show and Tell Discussion and Final Fashion Show!
